Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.6 (build 25G72), a maintenance update for all compatible Macs running Tahoe. It patches more than 150 security vulnerabilities — one of the largest security batches of the Tahoe cycle — fixes a handful of bugs, and quietly begins preparing Macs for macOS 27 Golden Gate's new Siri. It's available now via System Settings → General → Software Update.

Groundwork for macOS 27's Siri
The more interesting change is invisible: 26.6 is reported to kick off the Spotlight indexing process that the revamped Siri in macOS 27 Golden Gate will depend on. Apple has officially confirmed this indexing prep for iOS and iPadOS 26.6, which shipped the same day. Indexing can run for several days after you install, so don't be alarmed by extra background activity or slightly higher energy use in the first week.
A Late Change Before Launch
The public build is 25G72, while the July 20 release candidate was 25G70 — meaning Apple slipped in at least one additional fix between the RC and release. That's uncommon for a final Tahoe-cycle update and suggests a late-caught issue.
